I have been on Fall Break for the last few days. Loose translation - I have been busier than a one legged man in an ass-kicking contest! Working on the house, painting rooms (yes, plural, roomsss) and catching up on research and reading.
Finally finished Einstein. Too many parables to good PR. I would strongly encourage anyone in the profession to pick up a copy and page through. The man was a genius when it came to PR. And the science stuff too.
Two entries I would encourage everyone to read:
Jeremy Charette steps in as a guest blogger on Peter Shankman's "Pr Differently" Blog about how not to pitch a blogger. More to the point, how to pitch to a blogger. I love articles like this. Nothing spectacular but a great primer/refresher and you always walk away thinking - I knew that... kinda. But now I know it better.
The Bad Pitch Blog takes on a topic I have mentally blogged about (you know, you think to yourself, "I ought to write about ABC". Then your neurons start firing off - Thought A, THOUGHT B, THOUGHT C!!! You think to yourself - Awesome I should write this down right now... maybe I should invest in a tape recorder... Hey, I love this song! "fight like a brave, don't be a slave, no one can tell you..." Yeah, Chili Peppers are Sweet!. What was I thinking about... crap.) several times - belly aching. Due to my expertise lever of procrastination they beat me to it and did it almost as good as I (mentally) have several times before... Too many good lines to quote so I won't but pay special attention to points 2, 4, & 7. Oh, while you are there, check out their newest post... painful.
Only a few days left of break so I am off to play with the dogs!
